Forwards Curtis Lazar and Kurtis MacDermid sustained a lower-body injury in the team’s Saturday night loss to the Ottawa Senators.

A team spokesperson confirmed to NJ Advance Media that both players traveled with the team to Toronto.

According to Natural Stat Trick, Lazar blocked one shot against the Senators. This season, he leads all forwards with 59 blocks. The 29-year-old has dealt with lower-body injuries throughout the season but has not missed extended time.

MacDermid, who turned 30 years old on Monday, went down awkwardly along the boards against Ottawa. He was slow to get up but did not need assistance getting off the ice and made it down the tunnel on his own.

The Devils are also without forwards Nathan Bastian (lower body) and Nolan Foote (undisclosed). At the time of publication, no forwards had been recalled from the team’s American Hockey League affiliate.

Against the Islanders, interim head coach Travis Green used 11 forwards and seven defensemen.

The Devils are off on Monday. Any updates on the status of Lazar and MacDermid or if a call-up is necessary will need to wait until Tuesday morning when the team holds its morning skate at Scotiabank Arena at 11:30 A.M.
